Taking a Trip? A Reliable Rental Car Can Ease Your Mind

Posted by madee998 on July 27th, 2010

Car Rental is the most adventurous and affordable way to explore any unfamiliar territory. Car rental is a particularly wonderful way to see areas of tropical and scenic beauty, giving you the freedom and independence to plan your itinerary around the destination rather than transportation. Car rental is generally based upon 24 consecutive hours, so a 7 day car rental is based upon 7 consecutive 24 hour periods. Minimum car rental is normally for one day, and with many car rental companies long term car rental is available as well.

Insurance – More Than Just A Good Idea

It is in the best interest of the renter to pay a little extra for the rental car company’s insurance if you’re not 100% certain about your personal insurance coverage. Car rentals in MOST foreign countries will include collision protection and theft insurance (where applicable) but only the minimum required amount of third-party liability protection as determined by the applicable laws of each country/province. In countries that do not include the collision/theft insurance in the rental rate, Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection should be considered unless the rental is charged to a credit card which contains that insurance coverage. Always read the fine print, however, since there are some things that may not be covered in the insurance plan, such as driving down an unpaved road in a conventional car.

What’s In A Name? Big Company vs. Local Shop.

There are small agencies that have rental cars for particular regions, and national companies with hundreds of locations across the country. You should use your own judgment in choosing whether to go with a small company or not. A smaller rental car agency may not have a large inventory, so calling ahead is a must. Car rental companies are used to booking cars far ahead of time, so you shouldn’t feel silly when you’re making reservations, since it quite normal to need advance reservations to get a cheap rental car. Often, larger rental car [http://lasertargeted.com/carrental/trip-reliable-rental-car-ease-mind.html] companies will lower the per-day rate for customers who rent for 3 or more days; and these longer rentals are often less expensive than renting for just a single day. Cheap car rentals are all over the internet, both on the websites of car rental companies and on travel websites. It pays to shop around to get the best rental car deal.

Time To Head For The Hills!

Renting a car is great for a weekend get away, to impress someone or even to cover your own car needing repair. In fact, the exact reasons for renting a car are as varied as the individual driver. Car rental is always subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement at the time of rental though, so make sure you read everything thoroughly before signing. Whether you’re enjoying water views on a coastal drive or just want to do away with slow-paced rigid guided tours, a car rental is one of the best ways to get around.

Posted by madee998 on June 29th, 2010

Where Is This Walk Located

Taronga Zoo is located on Sydneys lower north shore, the Taronga Zoo to Balmoral walk is one of ydney’s best walks in terms of spectacular views of Sydney Harbour, Serene stretches of perfect bushland, quality sheltered beaches and a finish at Balmoral Beach, where you can have lunch or swim.

This Walk At A Glance

The gradient of this walk is considered to be a medium walk as it’s quite long. It will take you about three hours to walk the whole track its 6.5 kilometres long one way. Conditions are shady. You can get there by ferry, bus or Car, however there is limited street parking by Taronga Zoo Wharf, metered parking at Bradleys Head. If you are travelling to the walk by ferry go to wharf 2 at Circular Quay hop on the ferry and it will take you to Taronga Zoo wharf.

Walk Directions

1. This walk starts at the Taronga Zoo wharf. When you get off the ferry, turn right and follow the path for about 200 metres up a slight gradient. At this point the path drops down off of the road and starts its journey out to Bradleys Head. Aboriginal Middens can be found along this part of the track. A midden deposit can contain a variety of archaeological material, including animal bone, feces, shell, botanical material, vermin, sherds, lithics (especially debitage), and other artifacts and ecofacts associated with past human occupation.

2. About 500 metres into the walk form the wharf you will find a side track to the right that leads off to Athol Beach, this is a beautiful beach that meets the waters of Athol Bay, alot of boats come into this little bay a lots of swimming occurs, boaties use their dingy’s to come a shore for barbeques on the beach, a truly great spot this is.

3. Continuing now back up on the track, great views of the Sydney Opera house and harbour can be seen on the walk out to Bradleys Head. Bradleys Head protrudes deep into the harbour and vast amounts of the harbour can be seen from this point. The aboriginals call this area Dalyungay, meaning place of surveillance.

4. Continue to follow the path around the edge of the point that is Bradleys Head it will take you back into a dense patch of low trees and shrubs. Taylors bay is in the distance about a kilometre. In this section it’s like being in nowheresville, its hard to imagine that you are practically in the centre of Sydney.

5. From Taylors Bay a small part of the path goes close to suburban housing before reaching Chowder Head. There is a side track off to the right up near chowder head it will take you down to the waters edge where there are great flat boulders and Nelson Park is just opposite.

6. Back up on the track and you are now about a half a kilometre from Clifton Gardens Reserve and the wide sands of Chowder Bay. If you cross the beach and walk up the wooden steps there into an old army maritime school. Walk to the end of the buildings and up the flight of stairs on your left. At the top, head diagonally to the road and continue up the road to green wooden barracks. There is a harbour trust sign by the barracks, turn left here and follow the steep path up the ridge to Georges Heights.

7. Next you will come across a road, it will be Chowder Bay Road, follow it up hill a little and then cross over to the other side you will re find the path, follow this path along the ridge line. You’ll now be in a public park where there are great views of Camp Cove, the Heads and Watson’s Bay opposite before you come out onto Middle Head Road.

8. Cross Middle Head Road and walk down the steps to Balmoral Oval, cross the oval and turn right towards Balmoral beach get onto The Esplanade and walk to the corner of The Esplanade and Raglan St. Buses back to Taronga Zoo Wharf leave from the corner here. The walk is finished.

Sydney History – Balmoral Shell Midden

There is a deep rock overhang at Balmoral Beach, on the corner of The Esplanade and Plunkett Road. This is a significant archaeological site, in 1992 excavation of a shell midden at the mouth of the shelter revealed stone artefacts, animal bones, campfire remains and shellfish to a depth of two metres. The evidence points to more than 2500 years of aboriginal occupation of this shelter. Also found here was Dingo bones that were dated to be at least 3000 years old.
